Rubric for Article Review

Each criterion gets a value from 1 to 9, with 9 being great and 1 truly awful. The weights of the criteria compare their importance for the overall grade; they add up to 11. Multiply each weight by the value to get the score on that criterion; add them up. You'll notice that the maximum possible score is 99, resulting from 9's on all criteria. Then you get 1 free point!

Deliverable Rubric Weight Tag Description
Article Review 1 2 Summary Summarizes the main ideas and facts in the article from an objective standpoint. The key ideas and facts from the article are included. References to the article are provided. Author and source are named with proper citation.  
Article Review 2 1 Organization Review is well organized, easy to follow and not confusing on any point. The review also clarifies how the article fits into general thinking on modern operations management. 
Article Review 3 2 Analysis The analysis is clear and in sufficient detail. The analysis is in terms of the theories and other learnings of the course. Both theory and method should be analyzed. Quantitative content is placed in proper context. Clearly demonstrates a strong working knowledge of class material relative to the article.
Article Review 4 1 Conclusions States conclusions regarding the applicability of the article to real situations and the practicality of using the results. You should attempt to answer questions or criticisms that might be raised by a typical reader. The critique of the article discusses evidence of bias, writer's own or the author's, identifies the pros and cons of the article, and indicates writer's recommendation.
Article Review 5 2 Commentary
Provides personal comments pertaining to the article and how it relates to class material and the textbook. Personal comments are clearly stated. Comments clearly demonstrate a strong working knowledge of class material relative to the article. References are made to the textbook and specific chapters or page numbers are provided.
Article Review 6 1 Style There are no spelling, grammar, or punctuation errors. The review follows a professional style. Citations are properly made and referenced in the review.
Article Review 7 1 Peer Review Author presents evidence that a draft has been reviewed and commented on by a peer, either in class or by appointment at the Bizcomm Center. This can be done in an acknowledgement note at the end of the paper but before the reference list.
Article Review 8 1 Interest The review holds the interest of the audience, and makes sure that the audience is understanding what's said. A cartoon and picture are present.
